They see the world through their own
eyes,
Dividing things into black and
white;
They know what looks like a day
Is a bright veil of gloomy night.
They show gestures and illustrate
What they think is wrong and what
they hate;
And yet they refuse to utter a word
To protest against things untoward.
In an effort to live a risk-free
life,
They die inside a thousand times;
Painted by mind yet muted by doubt,
Civilized citizens act like mimes.
